Service Availability

Can everyone get television service?
Digital TV is available to customers within the city limits of Canby, and surrounding neighborhoods. See the TV Service Area Map for more details. A Customer Care Representative will be able to confirm specific availability.

How will I know when digital TV is available in other areas?
We will keep customers informed via information in Canby Telcom's customer newsletter, Canby Connections, and other informative advertisement channels.

Installation and Equipment

What equipment will I need?
Television service requires a modem and at least one set-top box. Canby Telcom provides all equipment at the time of installation.
(NOTE: Customers may have up to two set-top boxes per account.)

Why do I need a modem to receive television service?
Digital TV uses high-speed technology; therefore, a modem is needed to receive raw data and translate the information to signals for your television. If you subscribe to high-speed Internet service from Canby Telcom, only one modem is needed to deliver both Internet and television service. Internet service is not required to receive television service (but our package prices make it a great all-inclusive deal).

How much time does the installation require?
2-4 hours depending on the current wiring of your home.

What does the installation involve?
It will vary based on your unique situation. Your home may be minutes away from activating television service, or your home may need to be rewired with upgraded wire to ensure better quality signal for television and high-speed Internet service.

Will I see the wires?
The installation technician will try to utilize the crawl space and attic for all wiring runs. Our professional installation team will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with the installation.

Will they need drill holes?
Again this will depend on your home's current wiring situation. If the installation technician does need to install new outlets, your permission and satisfaction are a priority.

What devices and components will you need to connect?
We will connect basic components.TV, VCR/DVD, set top box, and modem. Connecting complex home theater systems will be the responsibility of the customer.
